Board of Directors

Richard Barker, Trustee

After earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas in 1995, Richard joined the US Navy as a Submarine Officer and was stationed on the USS Georgia (SSBN 729B) as the Assistant Engineer and Quality Assurance Officer from 1995 – 2000.  He was then stationed at Texas A&M University from 2000 – 2002 as an Associate Professor for Naval ROTC where he earned his M.S. in Finance. Richard left the Navy in 2002 to begin his career at ExxonMobil in the Controller’s department.

Both of Richard’s children graduated from Good Shepherd Episcopal School and are currently attending Greentree Elementary.  He has served on the School Board since 2003.


Mike Fulton, Trustee

After earning a B.B.A. in Finance from Texas A&M University in 1989, Michael worked as a Loan Specialist in the banking industry through 1991. He then moved into the pharmaceutical industry where he worked as Specialist in the areas of cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, pulmonary and allergy marketing pharmaceuticals for treatment in these areas. His coverage included physicians and hospitals in East Texas and the South Dallas areas until 1996. He then moved into the automobile Industry where he worked on the retail variable operations side of the of the business including domestic, import and high-line areas until 2003. He then moved into a consulting roll where he continues to consult with auto dealerships to help them improve the efficiency and net income of their operations.

 Michael grew up in the Episcopal Church attending St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in San Marcos, TX as a youth where he was involved as an Acolyte, EYC, and Youth Choir. He and his wife Tiffany were married at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas before moving to the Houston area in 2003.

 Both of Michael’s children have attended Good Shepherd Episcopal School. One is now attending Fall Creek Elementary and another is currently in the MDO program.


Rick Higley, Trustee

Rick is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point (1986), has received his MBA from Case Western Reserve University (1994), and recently received his masters degree in military history from Norwich University (2008).  He served as an officer in the US Army Corps of Engineers for five years upon graduation from the military academy.  Subsequently, he has worked for The Lubrizol Corporation, a specialty chemical company, with assignments in Cleveland, Ohio, Anaheim, California, and Houston, Texas.  Rick is currently a North American sales manager for Lubrizol.  The Higley family have been members of Good Shepherd Church since their relocation to Kingwood in 2002.  His youngest son, Richard, attended Good Shepherd School and now attends Greentree Elementary.  This is Rick’s second term as a member of the School Board.



Amy Jolley, Trustee

Amy and her family have been Kingwood residents since 2007. A former school teacher, Amy is dedicating her time now as a full time mom.  Amy and her husband have a very active household of three boys ages ranging from 7.5 to 2 years. Some of Amy's favorite activities are spending time with family, and friends and reading, entertaining and camping. Amy is serving her first term on the school board.



Alicia Pearce, Trustee

Alicia earned her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in Interdisciplinary Studies in 1995.  She then earned a Masters in Education from The University of Houston, as well as a Mid-Management Certification.  She joined the Good Shepherd Board in January of 2009.

Alicia began her career in education as a teacher of children with special needs at Epps Island Elementary, Klein ISD.  In 1999, she opened Hassler Elementary as its Assistant Principal.  Hassler is an Exemplary Campus and is a TBEC Honor Roll School. In 2008, she left her position at Hassler Elementary, Associate Principal at that time, to stay at home and focus her energy on her growing family.  Alicia also currently tutors elementary age students and teaches swim lesson at the Kingwood Athletic Club.   

Alicia is married to Andrew Pearce, a native of Kingwood.  He is currently an attorney at Boyar and Miller, PC.  They have a daughter who attends Good Shepherd and a one-year old son.


Sarah Permenter, Trustee

With 11 years of experience in education, Sarah has taught in Humble ISD for eight years.  Currently, she is a Reading Specialist in Humble ISD and is adjunct faculty at Lone Star College.  She is familiar with the private school setting after teaching Spanish at Allen Academy in Bryan.  She earned a B.B.A. in Marketing from Texas Tech University and a M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Southwest Texas State University.  Recently, Sarah earned her Principal Certification from Stephen F. Austin State University. 

Sarah has a daughter attending preschool at Good Shepherd Episcopal School and a son who will be a future student.  She is married to Lance Permenter, a landscape architect.  This is Sarah’s second term on the School Board. 


Carol Sutton, Trustee

Carol Sutton is participating in her second term on the Good Shepherd School Board of Trustees and currently the Chair of the Trustees Committee.  She has been employed by the Lake Houston Family YMCA for 15 years as the Marketing and Special Events Director.  She and her husband Randy are active members of Good Shepherd Church and have both been serving on the Rector Search Committee.  They have two wonderful daughters, Alison (26) who graduated from the University of Texas and works for Forbes Magazine and Megan (23) who graduated from Louisiana State University and works for Ralph Lauren.  The girls live together in New York City and Mom takes as many trips to the city as possible to catch a Broadway show and "shop til you drop!"
